Three hardened punches, two 14 x 3 x 1 in press plates and a bearing shield so a shop press can seat bushings, races and U-joints square.
A shop press is only as useful as what you can put under the ram. This six-piece kit is the set of adapters that turns a bare H-frame press into something you can actually rebuild parts with: three hardened punches (1/2 in, 1 in, and 2 in), two steel press plates measuring 14 in x 3 in x 1 in, and a bearing shield. It fits presses from small bench units up through 50-ton floor frames.
The two press plates are the pieces you reach for constantly. They bridge the press bed rails so the work sits flat and supported, instead of sagging across an open gap and bending while you crank on it. On a transmission bench that means pressing a bushing out of a pump body, pressing a new stator bushing in square, seating a bearing race, removing and installing pilot bearings, and pressing U-joints out of a driveshaft yoke without the yoke ears flexing.
The three punches give you a flat, hardened face to push on so the ram tip never contacts the part directly. Use the 1/2 in for small bushings and pins, the 1 in for most bearings and bushings, and the 2 in for larger races and hubs. The bearing shield goes over the work as a guard: pressed-fit bearings and hardened races can shatter and throw fragments when they let go, and a shield in front of that is cheap insurance for your eyes and face.
Everything is steel and takes the full load of a large press without mushrooming after a few jobs. Keep the plates dry and lightly oiled and they will outlast the press. Punch sizes and plate dimensions are listed in the specs below so you can check clearance against your own press bed before ordering.
