A 1/2 inch drive electronic torque wrench covering 17 to 340 Nm (roughly 12.5 to 250 ft-lb), which is the band that covers almost everything on a transmission job: bellhousing bolts, converter-to-flexplate bolts, crossmember and mount hardware, pan rails at the low end, and axle and wheel hardware at the top.

Accuracy is +/-2 percent clockwise and +/-3 percent counter-clockwise, held from 20 to 100 percent of range plus one increment. The display reads in four units so you are not converting Nm to ft-lb in your head off a service manual, and the indicator goes green at 90 percent of target and red at 100 percent. On a torque converter bolt pattern or a valve body that wants low, even torque, that visual cue is the difference between a repeatable pull and guessing by feel.

It stores preset torque values so you can set a spec once and run the whole pattern, has an on-tool calibration routine, and sleeps after five minutes to save the batteries.
