Full clutch, seal and gasket overhaul kit for the Aisin TF70SC six-speed transaxle in 1.6L Peugeot 308, 3008 and 508 automatics.
This is the master overhaul kit for the Aisin TF-70SC six-speed transverse automatic, the transaxle PSA calls the AM6 and fits behind the 1.6L engine in the Peugeot 308, 3008 and 508. It is the smaller sibling of the TF-80SC used in the larger Volvo, Ford and Mazda applications, and it shares that unit's basic layout: a single oil pump, a lock-up converter, and a valve body that carries the shift and pressure control solenoids on the outside of the case. The kit is sold under item number TF70SC, part number BL-I12D0419, and ships as a complete set of frictions, steels, seals, gaskets, O-rings and sealing rings for one rebuild.
The TF-70SC rarely gives you a clean break. It goes soft. The first complaint is usually a flare between second and third or a slip that only shows up warm and under light throttle, because the clutch packs are glazed and the running clearance has opened up. Right behind that comes converter lock-up shudder at part throttle and a delayed engage into drive after the car has sat, both of which trace back to hardened lip seals and worn sealing rings bleeding line pressure. Replacing solenoids on a unit in that condition is throwing parts at a symptom. Once the frictions and the seals are worn the only fix that holds is a full teardown.
On the bench, pull the transaxle, drop the valve body and the pump, and stack the drums out in order. Measure clutch pack clearance as each pack comes apart and write it down, because you set it back with the selective plate and steel thickness at reassembly, not by feel. Every rubber lip seal, piston seal and Teflon sealing ring in this kit gets replaced, no exceptions, and the new frictions soak in clean ATF for at least half an hour before they go in dry. Air check each pack through its feed hole before the next drum stacks on top of it. That five-second check is what keeps you from pulling the unit back out of the car.
This kit covers the soft parts and frictions only. Hard parts, the torque converter, the filter and the solenoids are separate. Inspect the pump gears, the bushings and the drum splines while it is open, and confirm your unit is a TF-70SC and not a TF-71SC, TF-72SC or TF-80SC before ordering, since the clutch counts differ across that family.
