Presses rear axle bearings off and on 1995-2020 Toyota Tacoma, Tundra and 4Runner shafts without bending the backing plate or cracking the ABS tone ring.
Toyota's semi-floating rear axle carries a press-fit ball bearing and a solid retainer ring on the shaft, so the bearing cannot simply be pulled off by hand. On 1995-2020 Tacoma, Tundra, 4Runner, Hilux and T100 pickups the usual field fix is a torch on the retainer and a pair of scrap plates under a press, and that is exactly how backing plates get bent and ABS tone rings get cracked. This fixture gives the shaft a proper seat instead.
The plate slides in behind the backing plate and clamps flush against the bearing, so press force goes straight through the bearing race rather than through the tone ring or the sheet metal. Four bolt circles are cut into it, spanning 100mm to 140mm and clearing both 10mm and 12mm studs, which is what lets one plate cover the full Toyota truck range instead of one vehicle. The same fixture is used in reverse to support the shaft while the new bearing and retainer are pressed on.
It is cut from high-tensile structural steel and rated for a standard 20-ton hydraulic shop press, which is the normal tool for this job. Manufacturer part number DA-WN2247. The kit ships at 17.76 lb in a 13.37 x 13.37 x 6.5 inch box. You still supply the press, the axle shaft support, and a new bearing and retainer ring. Confirm your axle stud size and backing plate bolt pattern before ordering.
