Replaces the worn front oil pump in Toyota U140E and U240E transaxles, restoring line pressure on slipping Camry, RAV4 and Highlander units.
This is the front oil pump assembly for the Toyota U140E family of automatic transaxles. It is the pump that mounts behind the torque converter and feeds every circuit in the unit - line pressure to the valve body, apply pressure to the clutch packs, converter charge, and the cooler and lube flow that keeps the planetaries alive. When the pump gears wear, the stator support bushing goes out of round, or the pump body scores, line pressure drops off and the transaxle starts slipping under throttle, flaring between shifts, or refusing to move at all once the fluid gets hot.
It fits the U140E and U140F, U240E, U241E, U250E, and the U150E, U151E and U151F. The E and F suffixes are the front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions - the transfer differs, the pump assembly does not. Vehicle coverage runs 2001-2012 RAV4, 2002-2011 Camry, 2001-2007 Highlander, 1999-2003 Lexus RX300 and ES300, and 2002-2008 Solara with the 2.4L four or the 3.0L and 3.3L V6. It replaces Toyota part numbers 35035-28010, 35035-12070, 35035-08010 and 35370-28010. Check the code stamped on your case before ordering - these families look alike across the bench and the pumps are not interchangeable outside the list above.
On the bench this goes in first. With the case standing on the bellhousing face, set the pump in square, pull it down evenly on the bolts so the stator support does not cock in the bore, and torque the pump bolts to 12 N-m (106 lb-in) in a cross pattern. Use a new pump-to-case O-ring and a new front seal, and check converter hub-to-bushing clearance before the converter goes back in - a worn hub will chew a new bushing in short order. Set and record input shaft end play before you close the case.
