U660E Transmission Overhaul Kit with Duraprene Gasket

The U660E is the six-speed front-wheel-drive transaxle Toyota put behind the 2GR-FE V6 starting in 2007, and it is still the unit under most Camry V6, Avalon, Sienna, Highlander, Venza and RAV4 V6 models along with the Lexus ES 350 and RX 350. The U660F is the same gearbox in all-wheel-drive trim. This is the TransTec overhaul kit for that family, part number 81000612 (DP 2551), covering 2007-up units.

Know what an overhaul kit is before you order. It is the sealing package for the unit: pump and drum lip seals, O-rings, sealing rings, molded rubber pistons where the unit uses them, and the pan gasket. There are no friction plates, no steels, no bushings and no filter in the box. If the transmission is coming apart because the clutches are burnt, you want a master kit and this on top of it; if it is coming apart because it is leaking, cross-leaking or slipping from tired seals, this is the kit that fixes it.

The pan gasket in this kit is the Duraprene molded gasket rather than a paper gasket - it is a rubber-bonded carrier gasket that seals dry on a clean flange and can come off with the pan instead of tearing in half. That matters on the U660 because the pan comes off for the filter and the valve body, and a paper gasket that shreds means scraping sealing surfaces with the case still in the car.

Bench notes: replace the pump body seal and the drive sprocket support seals while the unit is split, and set the sealing rings in place with a ring compressor or a hose clamp and a little ATF so they do not roll going into the bore. Air-check every clutch circuit through the case before the pan goes on.
