1 Ton Bench Arbor Press with Handwheel for Bushings

A one-ton manual arbor press sized for the small pressing jobs that come up constantly on a transmission bench: seating and removing case bushings, pressing pilot and needle bearings, and driving out roll pins and dowels without hammering on the part. The rack-and-pinion ram gives you 5.9 inches (150 mm) of travel, and the handwheel lets you bring the ram down slowly and squarely so a bushing starts straight instead of cocking in its bore.

The frame is cast iron and the press weighs about 26 pounds, so it stays put on the bench under load instead of walking around. Overall footprint is roughly 9.5 x 8.3 x 11.4 inches. It ships with three drifts: a flat drift for pressing against a bearing race or bushing shoulder, a pointed drift for centering, and a round drift for pins and small shafts.

This is a light-duty press. It is the right tool for valve-body checkballs, accumulator and servo bushings, speedo and governor components, small bearings, and pin work. For pressing large drum bushings, output shaft bearings, or anything needing several tons, step up to a shop press. Used within its range it saves you from beating on soft parts with a punch and a hammer.
