ZF 8HP Transmission Service Kit with 6L ATF for Audi

This is the complete drain-and-fill service kit for the ZF 8HP (8-speed Tiptronic) automatic used behind the longitudinal Audi drivetrain. It ships with six 1-liter bottles of German-made ATF, the internal transmission filter, the pan gasket, and a set of twelve new pan bolts, so the whole fluid service is one box instead of four part numbers from three suppliers.

Fitment covers the 8-speed ZF unit in the 2011-2015 A4 Quattro, 2011-2016 A5 Quattro, 2012-2014 A6 Quattro, 2012-2016 A7 Quattro, 2011-2014 A8 Quattro, 2013-2016 allroad, 2011-2016 Q5 (8-speed ZF cars only), 2014-2018 RS7 and 2014-2017 SQ5. Note that the Q5 was also built with a different transmission, so confirm the 8-speed ZF before ordering.

On the bench or on the lift: bring the unit up to operating temperature, drop the pan, pull the old filter, and clean the magnets before anything else goes back together. The pan bolts are torque-to-yield style and are included here for that reason - reusing stretched bolts is how pans start seeping at the corners. Dry fill on this transmission is about 9 liters, but a drain and refill only takes back roughly 5 liters, which is why six liters is the right amount to have on the cart. Set the final level through the fill plug with the fluid at the specified temperature window; filling cold and walking away is the number one cause of a low unit that shudders on the 2-3 shift.

The service this kit does is the fix for the classic high-mileage ZF 8HP complaints: harsh or delayed engagement, torque converter lockup shudder at light throttle, and slow cold-morning shifts. ZF's 'lifetime fill' language has put a lot of these units on the bench early - fluid and filter at regular intervals is far cheaper than a valve body.
