Holds the clutch piston down flat on Ford 10R80 and GM 10L80 drums so the retaining snap ring clears without the piston cocking sideways.
A one-piece compressor that seats over the clutch piston in a Ford 10R80 or GM 10L80 drum and pushes it straight down against the return spring. The load is spread across the whole face of the piston instead of being concentrated on two or three points, so the piston retracts square and does not tip into the drum wall while you are working the snap ring.
Machined locking groove and positioning lugs index the tool in the drum. Once it is locked in, the tool will not walk or slide sideways under pressure, which is what causes a compressor to skid off and gouge the aluminum bore or nick a clutch. Edges and contact faces are rounded so nothing is marking up the piston or the drum during a long teardown.
Fitment covers Ford 10R80 in F-150 2017-2023, Expedition 2018-2021, Mustang 2018-2021, Ranger 2019-2021 and Explorer 2020-2021, plus GM vehicles running the 10L80. Use it any time you are into the clutch packs for seal replacement, friction and steel swaps, or a full overhaul on a 10-speed.
