42RLE Transmission Shift Solenoid Block Pack 5143155AA

The 42RLE uses a single bolt-on solenoid and pressure switch block that mounts on the outside of the case, not inside on the valve body. When a solenoid in that block sticks or the internal pressure switches fail, the TCM drops the transmission into limp mode (second gear only), and you will usually see codes like P0750, P0755, P0760, P0765, P0841, P0845 or P0870. Swapping the whole block is the standard fix.

This is the complete block assembly, new, replacing 5143155AA, 04800171AA, 52854001AA, 04799061AB and 5143151AA.

On the bench: disconnect the battery and unplug the block connector, remove the retaining bolts, and pull the old block straight off the case. Clean the mating surface and make sure the gasket and screen are in place, bolt the new block on to spec, and reconnect. It is an external part, so no pan drop is needed, although a fluid and filter service at the same time is worth doing if the fluid is dark. Clear codes and run a quick learn so the TCM relearns shift adapts.
