Three-piece braided stainless 8AN cooler line kit that replaces the rusted factory lines on 2003-2007 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 5.9 Cummins 48RE trucks.
A complete replacement cooler line set for the 48RE automatic in 2003-2007 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks with the 5.9L Cummins. The factory steel lines on these trucks rust through at the clamps and bends, and a pinhole leak there can drain the transmission fast when it is working hard. This kit replaces the whole circuit with PTFE-lined hose, stainless steel braid and a nylon outer cover.
The kit has three lines: transmission to the heat exchanger, heat exchanger to the factory air cooler, and air cooler back to the transmission. It also includes two 8AN-to-NPT fittings, two hose barb adapters for the rubber hoses ahead of the cooler, and thread seal tape.
To install, remove the factory copper fittings from the transmission case and thread in the new NPT fittings. They are tapered, so tighten gradually until they seal; running them all the way in can crack the aluminum case. The factory fittings on the heat exchanger are reused. No instructions are supplied. Top off the fluid, run the engine, and check every joint for leaks with the fluid hot.
