Six-solenoid set for the Ford 5R55E, 4R44E and 4R55E automatics in 1997-2011 Ranger, Explorer and Mazda B-series trucks.
A six-piece solenoid set for the Ford 5R55E and its 4R44E, 4R55E and 5R44E siblings, the electronically controlled A4LD-family units used from 1997 up. It covers the Ranger (1997-2011), Explorer (1997-2001), Explorer Sport Trac (2001-2005), the 1997 Aerostar, and the Mazda B2300, B2500 and B4000 pickups built on the same case.
The set is what you drop in when the valve body comes off the bench and the electrical side is suspect: four small shift solenoids plus the two larger banded solenoids that handle pressure control and converter clutch apply. Bodies are aluminum with molded plastic connector ends and the port O-rings already fitted, so they land straight into the valve body bores.
Typical reasons a set like this goes in: harsh or delayed 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, no overdrive, a converter clutch that will not apply or will not release, or shift solenoid codes such as P0750, P0755 and P0760 that stay after the fluid and filter are done. Ohm each solenoid before you condemn the old ones, and replace the pan filter and fluid at the same time so debris does not take the new units out. Cracked case, worn valve body bores or a burnt friction pack are separate repairs; solenoids will not fix those.
