68RFE Thermal Bypass Valve for 2013-2018 Ram 6.7L Cummins

A billet aluminum replacement for the factory transmission thermal bypass valve on 2013-2018 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks with the 6.7L Cummins. It fits both automatics offered behind that engine, the 68RFE and the Aisin AS69RC, and bolts in where the transmission cooler lines meet the factory bypass assembly.

The factory bypass uses a wax thermal element that holds fluid back from the cooler until the ATF warms up. When that element sticks or the plastic-bodied housing cracks and seeps, fluid keeps recirculating through the transmission instead of the cooler. On a towing truck that shows up as climbing trans temps on grades, burnt-smelling fluid, and a weeping joint at the cooler line connection. This valve removes the thermal element and sends fluid through the cooler full time.

Install: clamp or catch the cooler lines, unbolt the factory bypass assembly, transfer or replace the line fittings and O-rings, bolt the billet valve into the same location, reconnect the lines and top off fluid. No cutting, drilling or programming. Check the fluid level hot after a test drive, since the cooler circuit now fills immediately.

Confirm year, engine and transmission before ordering. This version is for 2013-2018 trucks only; 2019-up Rams use a different bypass design.
