Complete GM 6L80 service kit: steel oil pan, filter, metal-reinforced gasket, drain plug and bolts to reseal the transmission and change fluid.
This is a complete oil pan service kit for the GM 6L80 and 6L80E six-speed automatic, the transmission behind millions of 2006-up Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban, Avalanche and Escalade half-tons. It replaces GM pan 24222657 and Dorman 265-582 and includes the stamped-steel pan, a spin-clean filter, a metal-reinforced pan gasket, a drain plug, and the mounting bolts.
On the bench the job is straightforward: drop the old pan, swap the filter, then set the new pan with the reinforced gasket. That gasket has a steel carrier through it, so it holds even clamp load across the pan rail instead of squeezing out or taking a set the way a plain rubber gasket does. A seeping pan gasket is where a lot of high-mile 6L80 units start dripping, and a filter that has collapsed or is drawing air is a common cause of a lazy, flaring 1-2 shift.
The factory 6L80 pan has no drain plug, so a normal fluid service means pulling the whole pan and wearing the Dexron VI. This pan has a threaded drain plug, so the next fluid change is a drain and refill instead of a mess on the floor.
This is the shorter 6L80 pan. The 6L90 uses a longer, deeper pan and a different filter, so check your case tag before ordering.
