Nine-piece hardened steel driver set that installs GM 6L80 and 6L90 pump, stator and drum bushings square in the bore without scoring them.
A nine-piece bushing driver set built for the GM 6L80 and 6L90 six-speed, the transmission used behind the 5.3, 6.0 and 6.2 in Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Yukon, Escalade, Camaro, CTS and the H2/H3 from 2006 up. It replaces the factory tool sold under part numbers 104BDMK and 6L80-Tool, and it is the set you need when you are replacing the bushings in the pump body, the stator support, the drums and the case rather than reusing worn ones on a fresh build.
The kit is seven hardened solid steel drivers plus two driver handles. The drivers are stepped so each one pilots inside the bore before the shoulder contacts the bushing, which is what keeps the bushing square as it goes in. Bushings are not included - this is the driving hardware only. The smallest mandrel is dedicated to the smallest bushing in the set, so check the pilot diameter against the bore before you swing the hammer.
Bench procedure is the same on every bushing in the unit. Clean and inspect the bore, chamfer nothing, start the new bushing by hand square to the bore, pick the driver whose pilot slips into the bushing ID with no slop, thread on the handle, and drive it with a dead blow in short even strokes until the shoulder bottoms. Then check that the shaft or drum turns free. Driving 6L80 bushings with a socket and a punch is how bores get scored and how bushings go in cocked, and a cocked pump bushing is a direct path back to low line pressure and a repeat 3-5-R or 4-5-6 clutch failure. This set removes the guesswork by giving each bushing a driver sized for it.
