6R80 Transmission Filter and Pan Gasket Kit - Ford F-150 Expedition Mustang

The 6R80 is the ZF-designed 6-speed automatic Ford ran behind the 5.0, 3.5 EcoBoost and 5.4 in the F-150, Expedition, Mustang and Lincoln Navigator. Ford calls it a lifetime fill, but the filter is the one thing standing between clutch debris and the valve body, and a plugged filter is a common cause of a 6R80 that flares, bangs the 1-2, or drops to a limp mode with pressure codes.

This kit is the spin-off filter and the pan gasket you need to do a proper drop-and-fill service. On the F-150 and Expedition the pan comes down, the old filter pulls out of the pump bore, and the new one seats with a fresh seal so the pump isn't sucking air. Reuse of a hardened old gasket is what causes the weep you see dripping off the pan rail a week later, so replace it every time the pan is off.

Fits 2009-2017 Ford Expedition, 2011-2017 F-150, 2011-2017 Mustang and 2011-2017 Lincoln Navigator running the 6R80. Refill with Mercon LV only - the 6R80 is sensitive to fluid spec, and running the wrong ATF is a fast way to induce shudder. Plan on roughly 5-6 quarts on a pan-drop service since the torque converter holds the rest.
