Full overhaul kit for the GM 6T40E and 6T45E: frictions, steels, gaskets, seals and O-rings to rebuild a slipping or shuddering front-drive six-speed.
Master overhaul kit for the GM 6T40E and 6T45E six-speed front-wheel-drive automatic, covering 2010-2011 LaCrosse 2.4L and 3.0L, 2010-2011 Cruze 1.4L and 1.8L, 2010 Captiva Sport 2.4L, 2011 Equinox 2.4L, 2011 Malibu 2.4L and 2008-2009 Pontiac G6 2.4L. Manufacturer part reference ING-6T40E, sold as a direct replacement for the OE 6T40E and 6T45E overhaul package.
The kit carries the parts you consume on a full teardown: the friction plate pack, steel plates, the complete paper and rubber gasket set, lip seals, sealing rings and O-rings. Frictions are included, so this is a master kit rather than a seal-and-gasket-only overhaul set - you are not stopping halfway through a build waiting on a clutch pack to show up.
The 6T40 and 6T45 family typically lands on the bench for a shudder in the torque converter clutch apply, a slipping or burnt 3-5-R clutch, and delayed engagement once the fluid is hot. Those come back to glazed frictions and hardened lip seals bleeding off apply pressure. Replacing every friction and every seal in one pass is what actually holds the fix, versus chasing one clutch at a time.
On the bench: strip the unit and wash the case, then inspect the drums for scoring and the bores for wear before you open the kit. Soak the new frictions in clean fluid before assembly, air-check each clutch pack as you stack it, and set your clutch clearances with the selective plates. Replace the pump seal and the case-to-pump gasket while the unit is apart - both are in the kit and neither is worth a second teardown.
