Gen 1 master overhaul kit with bonded pistons for the 2007-2012 GM 6T70 and 6T75 in the Acadia, Traverse, Malibu, Equinox and Outlook.
This is the Generation 1 master rebuild kit for the GM 6T70 and 6T75 transverse six-speed, kit reference K196900A, covering units also tagged 6T70E and 6T75E. It includes bonded pistons along with the friction plates, steel plates, gaskets and the full rubber, Teflon and O-ring sealing set - the soft-parts package for one complete overhaul.
Generation is the thing to get right on this unit. GM revised the 6T70 family for the 2013 model year, changing clutch stack-ups and several sealing rings, and Gen 1 and Gen 2 parts do not interchange correctly even where they physically fit. This kit is for the earlier 2007-2012 build. If your case tag says 2013 or later, order the Gen 2 kit instead.
Fitment: GMC Acadia 2007-2012 3.6L and Terrain 2011-2012 3.0L, Chevrolet Malibu 2009-2012 3.6L, Traverse 2009-2012 3.6L, Equinox 2010-2012 3.0L and Impala 2012 3.6L, Buick LaCrosse 2010 3.0L, Cadillac SRX 2012 3.6L, Pontiac G6 2007-2010 3.5L and Torrent GXP 2008-2009 3.6L, Saturn Aura XR 2007-2009 3.6L, Outlook 2007-2010 3.6L and Vue XR 2008-2010 3.6L, and Suzuki XL-7 2009 3.2L.
What usually puts a Gen 1 6T70 on the bench is wear in the 3-5-R and 4-5-6 clutch packs - flare on the 2-3 and 5-4 changes, slip under load, then a burned pack - along with hardened sealing rings that cause delayed or harsh engagement when cold. The bonded pistons are worth having in the box, because the original bonded-rubber pistons on these units crack and leak apply pressure. Hard parts are not included: drums, planetaries, the pump, the valve body and the wave plates are reused or sourced separately, and you should inspect the pump and the 1-2-3-4 / 3-5-R wave plate closely while you are in there. Plan on a new filter and case-connector seal at assembly.
