Complete overhaul kit for the Hyundai and Kia A4CF1 four-speed automatic: frictions, steels, gaskets, seals and sealing rings for a 2.0L rebuild.
This is a master overhaul kit for the A4CF1 and A4CF2 four-speed automatic, the transaxle Hyundai and Kia put behind the 2.0L Beta engine. It covers the 2007-2010 Elantra 2.0L and the 2006-2009 Kia Spectra and Spectra5 2.0L. Everything in the box is what you consume on a teardown: friction plates, steel plates, the full gasket and seal set, lip seals, and sealing rings. Hard parts, the pump, and the valve body are not included - those get inspected and reused.
These units usually come in the same way. The underdrive and overdrive clutch frictions cook, the fluid turns dark, and you get a flare or a slip on the 2-3 shift that gets worse as the transmission warms up. Sometimes it shows first as a delayed engagement into drive on a cold start because the piston seals have hardened and are bleeding pressure. Once the frictions are glazed you are not fixing it with a fluid change, and a filter alone will not bring line pressure back.
On the bench, split the case, pull the clutch packs, and lay the old frictions out in order so you can read what failed. Soak the new frictions in clean SP-III (or SP-IV where the vehicle calls for it) for at least fifteen minutes before assembly. Replace every lip seal and sealing ring on the drums and the input shaft while it is apart - the old ones are the reason the next one comes back. Check clutch pack clearance with a feeler gauge against the service spec before you close it up, and set end play before the case goes back together.
The failure this kit solves is worn frictions and hardened seals letting apply pressure escape. Replacing the soft parts as a set restores clutch capacity and shift feel instead of chasing one clutch pack at a time.
