0B5 DSG Transmission Sensor Module Remover Tool Kit

This is the factory-procedure tool set for pulling the transmission sensor module off an Audi 0B5 (DL501) seven-speed S tronic dual clutch gearbox. It reproduces VAG special tools T40217 and T40228: T40217 is the side shaft counterhold that locks the output shaft so it cannot spin while you break the nut loose, and T40228 is the puller that draws the sensor module straight off its register without cocking it. The kit also includes a 21mm socket, a locking plate, a stainless lifting ring and a blow molded case, and it carries DPTOOL part number H1027.

Fitment covers the 0B5 and 0B2 longitudinal dual clutch boxes: Audi A4 2008 and up, A5 2008 and up, A5 Cabriolet 2009 and up, A7 2007 and up, and Q5 2008 and up. These are the S tronic units, not the transverse 0AM DQ200 or 02E DQ250 boxes, so check the gearbox code stamped on the case before you buy.

The job this tool exists for is speed sensor and mechatronic diagnosis. When a DL501 throws implausible output speed signals, drops to limp, flares between gears or refuses to engage a clutch, the sensor module has to come off before you can get at what is behind it. Without the counterhold the shaft turns with the nut and you end up levering on the flange; without the puller people pry the module off with screwdrivers and crack the housing or bend the sensor carrier, which turns a sensor job into a mechatronic job.

On the bench or on the car: support the unit, fit the counterhold to the side shaft, break the retaining nut with the 21mm socket, then set the puller against the sensor module and draw it off evenly. The lifting ring lets you sling the assembly if you are pulling the box rather than working in the car. Everything returns to the case so the set stays together between jobs.
