JF016E CVT Transmission Oil Pump Assembly with Valve

This is the oil pump assembly, valve included, for the Jatco JF016E continuously variable transmission, the unit Nissan codes RE0F10D. It replaces OE part numbers 31340-28X8A and 31340-28X0A and also carries the JF017E reference, so check your case tag against the numbers before ordering.

The pump is what builds the line pressure that clamps the CVT belt between the pulleys. When it wears or the pump valve sticks, pressure falls off and the belt starts to slip on the pulley faces. That shows up as the engine flaring on acceleration with no matching road speed, a judder at light throttle from a stop, poor cold-morning engagement, and pressure or ratio-control faults such as P0841. Running a slipping JF016E long enough to polish the pulleys turns a pump job into a full unit replacement, so this is not a repair to postpone.

The pump sits on the converter housing side of the transmission, so this is an in-the-case job: the unit comes out, the converter comes off, and the pump unbolts from the housing. Replace the pump-to-case O-rings and the front seal while you are in there, and check the pulley faces and the belt for scoring at the same time. A pump going into a transmission with already-scored pulleys will not hold. Refill only with genuine Nissan NS-3 CVT fluid and reset the fluid deterioration counter with a scan tool when you are done.
