JF010E RE0F09A CVT Filter, Nissan 3.5L V6 22-Bolt Deep Pan

This is the internal oil-pan filter for the Jatco JF010E continuously variable transmission, also carried under the codes RE0F09A and RE0F09B. It fits the large 3.5L V6 applications: 2003-2014 Nissan Murano, 2007-2014 Maxima, 2007-2012 Altima (3.5L V6 only), and 2011-2014 Quest. It replaces OE numbers 31728-1XD03 and 31726-1XA01, and cross-references F09-G28-403, 95245, B-428, FK422 and TF633.

Two things decide whether this filter is the right one, and both trip people up. First, the pan: this filter is cut for the 22-bolt deep pan, not the 20-bolt shallow pan, so count your pan bolts before you order. Second, the neck: it is the long-tube (high-inlet) version. If your old filter has a noticeably shorter neck, this one will not seat into the pump bore correctly. Pull your original and lay them side by side before you commit.

On the bench it is a straightforward drop-the-pan job. Support the pan, break it loose, and let the fluid come down. Pull the old filter straight off the pump with its O-ring, wipe the bore, and clean the pan and the magnet. Lube the new filter's O-ring with clean CVT fluid, seat it by hand until it slides home without force, then set the pan gasket and snug the bolts evenly. Refill with the correct Nissan CVT fluid (NS-2 or NS-3 depending on year) to the fluid-temperature spec, not by the quart.

The JF010E is sensitive to flow. A clogged or wrong-neck filter starves the pump, cavitates, and shows up as slip on acceleration or a whine that ends in valve-body and pulley damage. Changing the filter at your fluid interval keeps clutch and pulley debris out of the step motor and the valve body, which is exactly what protects one of these units from an early failure. A pan gasket is included in the kit.
