The Lokar KD-2700HT is a Hi-Tech throttle valve (TV) cable kit for the GM 700R4 four-speed automatic. On a 700R4 this cable is not just a kickdown: it moves the TV plunger in the valve body, which sets line pressure and every shift point. It is the cable most often left stretched, kinked, or disconnected when a 700R4 goes into a hot rod, a truck with an aftermarket carburetor, or an LS or small-block swap.
The housing is braided over a purpose-extruded liner rather than brake hose, so the inner cable keeps sliding freely through years of underhood heat, and the aluminum end fittings use a ferrule so the cable does not fray where it clamps. The kit replaces a factory cable that has worn, broken, or no longer reaches the new throttle linkage.
Why it matters: a TV cable that is slack or unhooked leaves the 700R4 at minimum line pressure. It shifts early and soft, and under load the 2-4 band and 3-4 clutch pack slip and burn, which is the classic 700R4 failure after an engine swap. After install, set it so the TV plunger reaches full travel exactly at wide open throttle and the cable carries no tension at idle, then road test for firm full-throttle shifts and a proper part-throttle downshift. If the carburetor linkage does not pull the cable in a straight line matching the factory geometry, correct the bracket before you trust the adjustment.
