Low Profile Rolling Oil Drain Pan, 20 Gallon Manual Pump

This is a 20-gallon low-profile drain on wheels, 49.21 x 23.62 x 25.98 inches overall, with a welded carbon steel basin and a hand-crank transfer pump (VEVOR model FF-931-S-T). It is low enough to roll under a vehicle sitting on ramps or a low-rise lift, so you are not jacking a truck up just to get a container underneath it.

The reason a flat parts-store drain pan does not work for transmission service: when you break loose a 4L60E, 4L80E, 6L80, 68RFE or Allison 1000 pan, five to eight quarts of ATF come off all four sides of the pan lip at once, not down one drain hole. A standard eight-quart pan overflows and you finish the job standing in fluid. The open basin here is wide enough to sit under the whole pan and deep enough to take the drop plus the old filter, and a mesh screen across the pickup keeps clutch material and pan-magnet sludge out of the pump.

Evacuating is manual. Crank the pump and it pushes the used fluid out through a 7.2 ft (2.2 m) hose, which is long enough to reach the bung on a 55-gallon waste drum. There is no cord and no 110V pump to fail, which matters if you are working in a driveway, on a service truck, or anywhere the outlet is on the far wall. The pump is deliberate rather than fast, so plan on a few minutes to move a full pan.

It rolls on two 3-inch swivel casters with brakes and two 4-inch fixed wheels, with a folding T-handle for steering. Empty weight is 36.6 lbs; note that 20 gallons of used ATF is roughly 160 lbs, so set the caster brakes before you pump it out. Ships knocked down - wheels, handle, pump and hoses bolt on.
