The RE5R05A (Jatco JR507E) is the rear-drive five-speed automatic behind Nissan's VK56 and VQ35/VQ40 engines. It fits 2004-2014 Titan and Armada, 2004-2014 Frontier, 2004-2013 Pathfinder and Xterra, 2003-2008 350Z, and the Infiniti QX56 and 350-series, plus the 2009-2012 Suzuki Equator. This kit carries the friction and steel plates plus the full overhaul gasket and seal set you need to rebuild the unit on the bench: 32 friction plates, 34 steel plates, and all seals, gaskets, and rubber rings.

These transmissions come apart when the direct and high clutches burn, when the unit slips or flares on the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts, or when a truck that tows starts holding gears and setting slip codes. High-mileage Titans and Armadas are the common patient. Once the case is open, the frictions and steels are what you replace, not clean up. A glazed or burnt plate that goes back in is what brings the transmission back a second time.

Everything installs on a proper teardown: soak the new frictions in ATF before assembly, set each clutch pack to the factory clearance, and use fresh sealing rings on the drums.
