47RE Transmission Master Rebuild Kit with Filter

This is a TRANSPEED master overhaul kit for the Chrysler A518 and A618 four-speed overdrive automatics, the transmissions Dodge badges as the 46RE and 47RE. The 47RE (A618) is the heavy-duty version that lived behind the 5.9L Cummins and the big-block gas trucks; the 46RE (A518) is the lighter-duty half-ton unit. Both went into Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 trucks, Dakota, Durango, and Jeep Grand Cherokee from 1990 up. This is the kit you open for a full soft-parts rebuild after a slipping overdrive, burnt fluid, a chattering converter clutch, or a pump or converter failure that put debris through the whole unit.

In the box are the clutch friction plates and matching steel plates for the drums, the complete gasket set, and the full rubber seal package: lip seals, sealing rings, and O-rings. The frictions use a high-grip lining that holds its coefficient when the fluid gets hot, and the seals are a fluororubber (FKM) and ACM blend rated for sustained high ATF temperature, which is what you want in a truck that tows or runs a Cummins. The transmission filter is included so you finish the job with a fresh pickup.

This is a master (soft-parts and clutch) kit: it covers the frictions, steels, seals, gaskets and filter, not the hard parts. Reuse your good pump, drums, planetaries, shafts and case, and add a fresh overdrive band and any worn hard parts separately if your teardown calls for them. On the bench, soak the new frictions in ATF before assembly, air-check each clutch pack, set your endplay, then refill with the correct Mopar ATF+4.
