Full overhaul kit for the ZF 6HP26, 6HP26A and 6HP28: friction clutch pack, gaskets, lip seals, O-rings and sealing rings, ZF 1068298051.
This is the complete soft-parts and friction package for a ZF 6HP26 rear-wheel-drive six-speed overhaul. It covers the 6HP26, 6HP26A and 6HP28 variants and replaces ZF overhaul kit 1068298051, sold in the aftermarket as T18302A. Along with the gasket and seal set you get a new set of friction clutch plates, so you are not chasing a separate clutch kit once the case is split.
Fitment covers a wide run of ZF 6HP26 applications: BMW 3, 5, 6 and 7 Series, X5 and X6 (roughly 2003-2008 for the 550i, 750i, X5 and X6 builds), Jaguar S-Type, XJ and XK, and Land Rover Discovery and Range Rover. Verify your unit tag before ordering, because ZF built the 6HP19, 6HP26 and 6HP28 side by side and the clutch counts differ between them.
The 6HP26 fails in predictable places. Hardened D and E clutch drum piston seals let apply pressure bleed off, which shows up as a flare or slip on the 3-4 and 4-5 shifts. The bonded rubber pan gasket and the mechatronic sleeve harden with heat and start weeping fluid down the case. A kit like this is what you open when you are doing the job properly: strip the unit, clean and inspect the drums and steels, then reassemble with every rubber part new rather than reusing seals that already have 100,000-plus miles of heat cycles in them.
On the bench, air-check each clutch pack after you seal it up. Set clutch clearance with the correct snap ring before the drums go back in the case, and lubricate the new lip seals with ATF so they do not roll or nick on install. Torque the valve body and pan hardware to spec and fill with the correct ZF Lifeguard 6 spec fluid.
