Steel crossmember that supports a 700R4, 4L60 or 4L60E in a 1959-1964 Chevy Impala, where the original TH350 or Powerglide mount won't line up.
This is a steel transmission crossmember built for 1959-1964 Chevrolet Impala X-frame cars that are getting an overdrive automatic. The 700R4, 4L60 and 4L60E are longer than the Powerglide and Turbo 350 these cars left the factory with, so the tailshaft mount lands in a different spot and the stock crossmember no longer picks it up. This member relocates the mount pad to where the overdrive transmission actually sits.
It fits the 700R4 and both 4L60 variants, so it works whether you are running a cable-shifted 700R4 on a carbureted small block or an electronically controlled 4L60E behind an LS swap. Mounting accessories come in the box. The transmission mount itself is a separate purchase, and no installation instructions are included.
On the bench and under the car: support the transmission with a jack, unbolt the old crossmember and mount, and set the new member in place loosely. Bolt the mount to the tailshaft, then snug the crossmember to the frame and check driveshaft angle and exhaust clearance before final torque. On a swap, expect some trial fitting, and plan on a driveshaft length check since the overdrive case changes where the slip yoke ends up. Professional installation is recommended if you are not comfortable supporting a transmission on a jack.
