4L60E Master Rebuild Kit with Band, Clutches and Filter

This is a full master overhaul kit for the GM 4L60E, the parts you actually replace when the unit comes apart on the bench. It ships with 22 friction plates and 21 steel plates covering the forward, direct, overrun and 3-4 clutch packs, a new 2-4 brake band, the separator plate, a transmission filter, the piston/bonded rubber set, and the complete gasket and seal kit including the pan gasket, pump O-ring, servo seals and case lip seals.

It fits the 4L60 and 4L60E family and the 700R4 that preceded it, and also covers the 4L65E, 4L70E and 4L75E heavy-duty variants. Confirmed applications include 1994-2005 S10, Blazer and Jimmy 4.3L; 1994-2005 Astro and Safari vans; 1999-2013 Silverado and Sierra 1500 in 4.3, 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0L; 1995-2014 Tahoe, Suburban and Yukon; 2002-2009 TrailBlazer and Envoy; 2002-2008 Avalanche; 1999-2006 Escalade, ESV and EXT; and 1994-2005 Corvette C4 and C5. OEM and aftermarket references it crosses to are T05700B, T057080B, T057081B, KP33900M and M31.

Typical reason this kit gets ordered: a slipping or delayed 1-2 shift from a burnt 2-4 band, a P1870 code from 3-4 clutch wear letting the converter clutch slip, or a unit that finally lost 3rd and 4th. Once the case is split you are replacing every friction, steel, band, seal and gasket anyway, so a master kit is cheaper and cleaner than buying the packs piecemeal. Air-check each circuit after the pistons go in, set 2-4 band clearance to spec, and soak the frictions in ATF for at least 30 minutes before assembly.

Note on what is not included: this is a soft-parts and clutch master kit. It does not contain a sun shell, pump, valve body, solenoids or a torque converter. Inspect the sun shell and the 3-4 clutch hub while you are in there, since those are the usual hard-part failures on a high-mileage 4L60E.
