4L60E Transmission Solenoid and Filter Service Kit

This is the electrical side of a 4L60E service done in one pan drop. It covers the 1-2 and 2-3 shift solenoids, the EPC pressure control solenoid, the TCC lockup solenoid, the internal wiring harness, the pressure switch assembly, the filter and the pan gasket, for GM 4L60E and 4L65E units from 1993 through 2005. Cross-reference numbers on the kit are 10478112, 10478120, 24230298, 24215111, 24219581 and 24220158 - check yours against the transmission before you order, because the connector and case pass-through changed across those years.

The reason to do the whole set instead of one solenoid is the internal harness. The harness in a high-mile 4L60E has been baking in ATF for a decade or more, and the insulation goes brittle where it passes the case connector. You replace a shift solenoid, clear the code, and three weeks later a chafed wire drops the other one. Every piece here comes out and goes back in on the same job, so you are not pulling the pan twice.

Typical symptoms that point here: P0751 or P0756 solenoid performance codes, a hard 1-2 shift that does not soften with fluid temperature, no 3rd or 4th gear, a converter clutch that will not lock, or a torque converter shudder at light throttle in overdrive. The EPC solenoid in particular controls line pressure - when it sticks, the whole unit either flares or slams, and the fix is not a rebuild.

On the bench: drain and drop the pan, pull the filter, unclip the harness at the case connector, unbolt the solenoids from the valve body, swap each one with a new O-ring seated in the bore, reconnect the harness, install the new filter and gasket, torque the pan bolts in a crossing pattern, refill and check level hot in park.
