These are the bolts everyone forgets about until the transmission is already hanging on the jack. The torque converter bolts to the flexplate through six holes, and GM torques those fasteners tight for a reason: the converter spins with the engine, and a bolt that stretches, backs out, or shears turns into a converter wobbling against the flexplate and a noise you do not want to chase. Reusing the old bolts after a converter or transmission swap is exactly the kind of shortcut that comes back to bite you, and a fresh set of six costs a couple of dollars a bolt.

They are Grade 10.9 alloy steel rated around 1,040 MPa tensile, with a galvanized coating to fight the rust and heat they live in, and a hex flange head that spreads the clamp load and resists loosening without a separate washer.
Seat the converter fully on the pump, then torque the bolts to your service manual spec in a cross pattern, and you get a balanced, secure connection you do not have to think about again.
