An overhaul bundle for the Chrysler 42RLE four-speed rear-wheel-drive automatic. Along with the gasket and seal kit it carries 21 friction plates and 17 steel plates, a replacement valve body (04800171AA), a speed sensor (04799061AB), a filter (68059549AA) and the solenoid harness connector plug.
Listed fitment is 2003 and later Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep units with the 42RLE, including the Jeep Liberty and Wrangler, the Dodge Nitro, and the Chrysler PT Cruiser applications that used it. Confirm the tag on the case before ordering.
The 42RLE usually comes in stuck in second-gear limp mode, with a speed ratio code, a flare on the 2-3, or burned underdrive and overdrive clutches. The harness connector at the solenoid pack and the speed sensors are common trouble spots, so replacing them during the rebuild saves a comeback.
