45RFE Solenoid Block Pack with Filter Kit, 1999-2003 Black Plug

A replacement solenoid block (solenoid pack) for the early Chrysler 45RFE, the version with the black 23-pin connector. The block carries six shift solenoids and the EPC pressure control solenoid, plus the pressure switches the TCM reads. The kit adds the primary sump filter (4WD style), the spin-on cooler return filter and a pan gasket, so the whole service is done with one pan drop. Listed OE cross references: 4799937AD, 52119435AE and P72420.

Listed fitment: Jeep Grand Cherokee 1999-2003 4.7L V8, Dodge Durango 1999-2002 4.7L V8, Dodge Dakota 2000-2003 4.7L V8, Dodge Ram 1500 2002-2003 4.7L V8 and Jeep Liberty KJ 2002 3.7L V6. It is 45RFE/545RFE only and does not fit the 42RLE, 46RE, 47RE or 68RFE. Later units moved to a different connector, so match the plug color and the OE number on your old block before ordering.

This is the fix for a 45RFE that drops into limp mode (second gear only) with P0700 plus solenoid circuit or pressure switch codes such as P0750-P0765, P0841-P0846 or P0944, and for trucks with erratic or harsh shifts after the TCM has been ruled out. On the bench: drain and drop the pan, pull the sump filter, unplug the transmission harness at the case connector, remove the block's retaining bolts and lift it off the valve body. Transfer nothing but the clean mating surface; set the new block on, torque the bolts evenly, fit the new filter and spin-on filter, then the pan with the new gasket.

Refill with ATF+4, clear codes and run the TCM quick learn with a capable scan tool before the road test. Skipping the quick learn is the usual reason a new block still shifts poorly.
