Internal pan filter, pan gasket, and external spin-on cooler filter for the Ford 5R110W TorqShift behind the 6.0L Powerstroke, 2003.5-2007.
This is the two-filter service kit for the Ford 5R110W TorqShift automatic that lives behind the 6.0L Powerstroke in 2003.5-2007 F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550 and the 6.0L Excursion. The TorqShift runs two filters, not one: an internal filter that sits in the pan and an external spin-on cartridge mounted on the transmission cooler circuit. Change only the pan filter and you leave half the job undone, so this kit gives you both plus the pan gasket.
On the bench or under the truck it is a straightforward job: drop the pan, pull the old internal filter and gasket, set the new internal filter and lay the new gasket, then spin off the external cartridge on the cooler line and thread the new one on. Prime it, refill with the correct Mercon SP-spec fluid, and cycle the gears. Doing both filters at once is what actually protects the pump and the converter clutch from the debris a tired TorqShift sheds.
Interchange covers Motorcraft FT144, Motorcraft 3C3Z7B155BA, Wix 58624, Wix 55702 and Premium Guard PT1301. Ford calls for a filter change every 25,000 to 50,000 miles, sooner on trucks that tow or run hot. If your 6.0L is flaring shifts, holding high line pressure, or the fluid comes out dark and burnt, a full filter service is the first thing to rule out before anyone talks about a valve body or a rebuild.
