Replaces the failed 5R55W and 5R55S solenoid block on Ford Explorer, Mountaineer and Mustang to clear P0745, limp mode and a lost overdrive.
Remanufactured shift solenoid block for the Ford 5R55W and 5R55S five-speed automatic, carrying OE numbers 9L2Z-7G234-AA and 9L2Z-7G391-AA. The block bolts to the valve body inside the pan and carries the shift, pressure control and TCC solenoids on one plate, so the whole electro-hydraulic side of the unit gets replaced in a single part rather than chasing one solenoid at a time.
Fitment covers Explorer 4.0L and 4.6L 2002-up, Explorer Sport Trac 4.0L and 4.6L 2002-up, Mercury Mountaineer 4.0L and 4.6L 2002-up, Mustang 4.0L and 4.6L 2005-2010, Lincoln LS 3.0L and 3.9L 2003-2006, Lincoln Aviator 4.6L 2003-2006, Ford Everest 3.0L 2004-2010 and Falcon FG 4.0L and 5.4L 2008-2010. Check the tag on the case before you order: the 5R55E used in the Ranger runs a different solenoid layout and this block does not fit it.
This is the part that fixes the usual 5R55W complaints - P0745, P0751, P0752, P1746 and P0761, a hard 1-2 hit, no overdrive, or the truck dropping straight into limp with the wrench light on. The solenoid windings and the pressure control circuit drift out of spec as the pack ages, and no amount of fluid or filter work brings them back.
On the bench: drop the pan, pull the filter, unplug the internal harness connector from the block, remove the retaining bolts and lift the pack straight off the valve body. Transfer nothing - the replacement comes complete. Torque the bolts evenly, refit the filter and pan with a new gasket, fill with Mercon V, then run the adaptive relearn with a scan tool. Skipping the relearn is what leaves people with harsh or erratic shifts after the swap. Units are remanufactured from OE cores and tested, not new, and carry a 12 month warranty.
