Replaces the worn front oil pump in the Chrysler 62TE six-speed, restoring line pressure on slipping 2007-up Caravan, Town and Country and Journey units.
This is the front oil pump assembly for the Chrysler 62TE six-speed automatic transaxle, the FWD unit that went into the 2007-up Grand Caravan, Town and Country, Journey, Avenger, Sebring, 200 and the Ram C/V and VW Routan built off the same platform. It replaces OEM 05078567 and 04659715 and comes as a complete assembly, so you are not chasing individual gears, a rotor set, or a stator support separately.
The pump sits at the front of the case behind the torque converter and drives off the converter hub. Everything downstream lives on it: line pressure to the valve body and solenoid pack, apply pressure to the underdrive, overdrive, reverse and low/reverse clutches, converter charge, and the cooler and lube flow that keeps the planetaries and the VLP gearset alive. When the gears wear, the pump body scores, or the bushing goes out of round, line pressure falls off and the unit gives you delayed engagement when cold, flare between shifts, slipping under throttle once the fluid heats up, or a converter that will not lock and shudders. Low pressure codes and a pressure test that reads under spec at idle in drive point straight at the pump.
On the bench, pull the pump after the converter and bellhousing come off, then check the old one for gear side clearance, a grooved crescent, and a wallowed-out bushing before you decide. If the unit came apart with clutch material or aluminum in the pan, the pump is almost always contaminated and swapping the whole assembly is the honest fix. Replace the front pump seal and the converter, flush the cooler and lines, and set line pressure with a gauge before the vehicle leaves. A 62TE that gets a new pump and a dirty cooler back will fail again in a few thousand miles.
Shipped as the pump assembly only. Verify your OEM part number against the numbers below before ordering, since the 62TE ran a long production span and hardware changed across it.
