62TE Transmission Service Kit with 6qt ATF and Filter

This is a full fluid-and-filter service for the 62TE, the transverse six-speed automatic Chrysler used behind the 3.5L, 3.6L and 3.8L V6 in its front-drive vans and mid-size cars. The kit ships with six quarts of ATF, the internal filter with its pump pickup seal ring, and the molded pan gasket, which is everything you need for a drop-the-pan service. Six quarts is the right number for a pan drop and refill; a full fluid exchange takes closer to ten, so plan on a second kit or extra fluid if you are flushing the cooler lines too.

Fitment covers Dodge Grand Caravan 2008-2020, Journey 2009-2019 and 2022-2023, and Avenger 2008-2014; Chrysler Town & Country and Grand Caravan 2021-2024, Pacifica 2017-2024, Voyager 2020-2024, 200 2011-2014 and Sebring 2007-2010; and the Ram ProMaster 2500 2016-2024. The 62TE is genuinely sensitive to fluid condition, and burnt or overheated fluid is what takes out the underdrive and 2C clutches on these units, so the service interval matters more here than on most transverse automatics.

On the bench: pull the pan, let it drain, and note that the 62TE filter is up inside the case and pulls straight down off the pump pickup. It comes out with a firm even tug. Clean the magnet, wipe the pan rail, and press the new filter up until the neck seats fully with its seal ring square in the bore. A filter that is not fully home will suck air and give you a delayed or flaring 1-2 shift the first time out. Lay the molded gasket on dry, run the pan bolts to spec in a crossing pattern, and do not overtighten them; the rail on these pans distorts easily and then you fight a seep for the rest of the truck's life.

Refill through the dipstick tube, run the transmission through all gear positions with the vehicle level and the fluid at operating temperature, and check the level on the hot side of the stick. Overfilling a 62TE causes aeration and a spongy shift, so bring it up in stages rather than dumping all six quarts in at once.
