Seven hardened mandrels and two handles that seat GM 6L80 and 6L90 bushings square without scoring the bore or rolling the new bushing.
Nine-piece bushing driver set built for the GM 6L80 and 6L90 six-speed automatics, 2006 and newer. It is seven heat-treated steel mandrels sized to the 6L80 family bushing bores plus two driver handles. Replaces part numbers 104bdmk and 6L80-Tool.
Fitment is 2006-on Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac and Hummer vehicles with the 6L80 or 6L90, in 2WD, 4WD, 4X2, 4X4, AWD and RWD applications.
The reason a dedicated driver set matters on this unit is that 6L80 bushings sit in aluminum and in thin drum hubs. Driving one in with a socket or a piece of pipe cocks the bushing, rolls the leading edge, or scores the bore - and a bushing that goes in crooked changes the shaft centerline, which shows up later as a leaking pump seal, a converter that eats its hub, or low line pressure. Each mandrel in this set lands flat on the bushing face and pilots in the bore, so the bushing goes in square and to the right depth.
On the bench: cut or collapse the old bushing rather than driving it out through the bore when you can, chase the bore clean, and check that the oil feed hole in the new bushing lines up with the hole in the housing before you press. Support the housing on the press table so the mandrel is the only thing loading the bushing. The set is drivers only - replacement bushings are not included. Finish is black oxide over hardened steel.
