6L80 Master Rebuild Kit with Steels, Frictions and Filter

This is a full clutch-and-seal overhaul kit for the GM Hydra-Matic 6L80 and 6L90 six-speed. Unlike the friction-only kits most suppliers sell, this box includes the steels: 30 steel clutch plates and 35 friction plates, plus the pan filter and the overhaul gasket and seal set (pan and case gaskets, valve body separator plate gaskets, O-rings, sealing rings and washers). It cross-references the KP33900JBX, KP33900JAX, K-135900DX-AFT, 195804X, 34352KIT, 24236931, 24236933, 135710D, 34661P and 195940 kit numbers.

Applications include 2007-2014 Silverado and Sierra 1500, 6L90 Silverado and Sierra 2500HD/3500HD, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon and Yukon XL, 2007-2015 Escalade and ESV, Express and Savana 2500/3500 vans, 2010-up Camaro, 2006-up Corvette, 2006-2011 STS and the CTS-V. The 6L90 heavy-duty units run a higher clutch count than the 6L80, so confirm the transmission tag and count the original plates in each pack before you commit a set to a unit.

Steels are the part that gets skipped on a budget rebuild, and on a 6L80 that has been slipping in fourth or fifth or has cooked the 3-5-R or 4-5-6 pack, the steels are usually blued, warped or heat-checked. Reusing them puts brand new frictions against a bad surface and the unit comes back. With this kit you replace every plate, soak the frictions in fresh Dexron VI, and set clearances from the factory or ATSG manual as you stack each pack.

Not included: torque converter, valve body, pump, pan, fluid, tools or instructions. Pistons and bushings are not part of this set, so inspect and source those separately if the teardown calls for them.
