Nine-piece set built specifically for the GM 6L80 and 6L90 six-speed: 7 bushing drivers and 2 drive handles, hardened solid steel with a black finish. It replaces the shop tool sold under part numbers 104bdmk and 6L80-Tool.
The 6L80 is a case that punishes improvised tooling. The bushings sit in aluminum, several of them down in a blind bore, and the sizes step close enough together that a socket that looks right will still shave the bore on the way in. Each driver here picks up the bushing on its OD and pilots the bore, so the bushing starts square and stops at depth instead of walking. The smallest mandrel in the set is cut for the smallest bushing in the box, which is the one most people end up butchering with a punch.
Typical use is during a rebuild or a hard-parts repair: knock the old bushing out, clean and inspect the bore for a wallowed-out or scored surface, then drive the new one in with the matching driver and the handle until it seats. Check the shaft for free rotation before the case goes back together. A bushing driven in crooked shows up later as a converter or pump whine and a slow bleed of line pressure, so it is worth getting square the first time.
Fits GM 6L80 and 6L90 six-speed transmissions from 2006 on, behind Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac and Hummer applications. Bushings are not included in this kit.
