Full-synthetic ATF that meets both GM DEXRON VI and Ford Mercon LV, covering 6L80, 6L90, 6T70, 6R80, and 6F35 six-speeds in one gallon jug.
Valvoline's DEXRON VI/MERCON LV is a full-synthetic automatic transmission fluid built to cover two of the most common late-model specs in one gallon jug. It meets GM DEXRON VI and Ford Mercon LV requirements, so it is the fluid for GM 6L45, 6L80, 6L90, 6T40, and 6T70 six-speeds as well as Ford 6R60, 6R75, 6R80, and 6F35 units, plus the many DEXRON VI backward-compatible applications going back to older DEXRON III gearboxes.
The full-synthetic base stock holds its viscosity across a wide temperature range, which is what keeps line pressure and clutch apply timing consistent whether the trans is cold on a winter start or heat-soaked towing in summer. Valvoline blends in anti-shudder additive to keep the torque converter clutch from chattering at lockup, and anti-wear chemistry to protect the pump, bushings, and clutch packs over long drain intervals.
On the bench or the lift, one gallon covers a standard pan-drop-and-fill on most six-speeds with a little left over; a full fluid exchange on a 6L80 or 6R80 will take two to three gallons. It is dyed red so you can spot a fresh fill against a leak. Always confirm your transmission actually calls for DEXRON VI or Mercon LV before filling, and set the level to temperature per the factory procedure since these units have no traditional dipstick.
