Stretches and resizes the PTFE sealing rings on Ford 6R140 input shaft, turbine shaft and stator support so they seat without cutting or leaking.
A six-piece installer and resizer set for the Teflon (PTFE) sealing rings used inside the Ford 6R140 six-speed, the heavy-duty automatic behind the 6.7L Power Stroke and 6.2L/7.3L gas engines in 2011-up F-250 through F-550 Super Duty trucks, 2012-up E-350/E-450 vans and 2016-up F-650/F-750 medium duty. It includes two expanders and four downsizers covering the input shaft, turbine shaft, stator and front stator support ring grooves, and is laid out to do the job of the Ford service tools T-307653SAC and T-307657SAC.
Solid PTFE rings barely stretch. Rolling them over a shaft by hand usually leaves them oversized, twisted or nicked, and a ring that does not sit flush in its groove bleeds apply pressure to the clutch circuit it feeds. On a 6R140 that shows up as soft or slipping engagements, flare on upshifts and clutch-related codes after a rebuild that should have been fine.
On the bench: slide the ring over the matching expander cone and push it down into the shaft groove, then run the correct downsizer sleeve over the shaft to squeeze the ring back to size and hold it there for a few minutes before assembly. The tools are a non-marring polymer so they will not scratch the ring faces or the shaft journals, and a fluted handle is included for grip.
