Seven-solenoid set for the Ford 6R80, OE AL39-7G276-AF, that cures shift flare, harsh 2-3 and failsafe lockup on F-150, Expedition and Mustang.
Seven-piece solenoid set for the Ford 6R80 six-speed automatic, replacing OE part number AL39-7G276-AF. The 6R80 runs its shift and pressure control through solenoids bolted to the top of the valve body, and when one drifts out of spec the transmission does not fail all at once - it starts flaring between gears, banging the 2-3, hanging in a gear it should have left, or dropping into failsafe third with a P0750-series or P2700-series code stored. Replacing them as a set is the normal repair, because the solenoids age together and swapping one usually just moves the complaint to the next weakest one.
Fitment covers Ford F-150 3.5L, 4.6L, 5.0L, 5.4L and 6.2L 2009-2014; Expedition 3.5L, 5.0L and 5.4L 2009-2014; Mustang 3.7L and 5.0L 2010-2014; Ranger 2.2L, 2.5L, 3.0L and 3.2L 2010-2014; Everest 2.4L and 3.2L 2011; Transit 3.2L, 3.5L and 3.7L 2014; Lincoln Navigator 5.0L and 5.4L 2009-2014; and Mazda BT-50 2.1L, 2.5L, 3.0L and 3.2L 2012-2014. Check the casting and the tag on your valve body against the photos before ordering - Ford revised the 6R80 valve body during this run and the later units use a different solenoid layout.
On the bench the job is done from underneath with the pan and filter off. Drop the pan, pull the filter, unplug the internal harness from each solenoid, and remove the retaining clips or bolts holding the solenoids to the valve body. The solenoids come straight out. Lubricate the new O-rings with clean ATF before seating them so you do not roll or cut a ring on the way in, seat each solenoid fully, and re-clip the harness. Keep the bores clean - any debris that goes in with a solenoid ends up in the bore it is supposed to be regulating.
After the pan and a new filter go back on and the unit is refilled with the correct Mercon LV, the strategy needs to relearn. Clear the stored codes, then drive it through a full range of light and moderate throttle upshifts so the adaptive tables re-populate. Shifts often feel firm or slightly off for the first several cycles and then settle in. If a specific gear complaint survives the relearn, the problem is upstream of the solenoids - look at the valve body bores and the clutch circuit that gear uses.
