700R4 Trans-Scat Valve Body Shift Kit, TCI 376000 86-93

This is the TCI Trans-Scat valve body kit, part number 376000, for the GM 700R4 built from 1986 through 1993, including the 1993 units that carry the 4L60 name before the fully electronic 4L60E took over. It is a shift-quality kit, not an overhaul kit: it recalibrates the valve body you already have so the clutches and band apply faster and hold line pressure instead of letting it sag during the shift.

A stock 700R4 is tuned for a soft, slow shift. That long overlap is what cooks the 3-4 clutch pack and the 2-4 band, especially behind a V8 that has had any work done or in a truck that tows. Every half second a clutch slips on the way into gear puts friction material in the pan. Shortening the apply is why a firmer-shifting 700R4 usually outlives a soft one.

The kit goes in with the transmission still in the vehicle. Drain and drop the pan, pull the filter, unbolt the valve body and separator plate, then follow the TCI instructions for the spring, check ball and plate changes before torquing it back down. Keep track of the check ball locations as the valve body comes off. Refill with fresh ATF and a new filter while the pan is already down, and confirm the TV cable is adjusted correctly before the first drive, since a misadjusted TV cable will undo any shift kit on a 700R4.

Full automatic operation stays: the transmission still upshifts and downshifts on its own in Drive. It will not fit the electronically shifted 4L60E, 4L65E or 4L70E from 1994 on, which use a solenoid-controlled valve body.
