722.9 Transmission Service Kit with 6L ATF and Filter

This is the full fluid-and-filter service package for the Mercedes-Benz 722.9 7G-Tronic, covering 2004-2010 select models. You get six 1-liter bottles of red ATF meeting MB spec 236.14 (made in Germany), the internal transmission filter, the pan gasket, a new drain plug with seal washer, six pan bolts, a fluid guide tube, and a fill adapter that threads into the fill hole and mates to a standard or quick-connect transfer pump. Manufacturer part number 22127702KIT.

The 722.9 has no dipstick. Fluid comes out through the pan drain, and it goes back in through the fill/level plug on the side of the case, which is why the adapter and guide tube in this kit matter more than they look like they should. Without them you are trying to push six liters uphill into a hole you cannot see. Drop the pan, swap the filter and gasket, torque the pan bolts, refill through the adapter, then set the final level at the transmission temperature the factory procedure calls for with the engine running and the selector in park. Pull the fill plug at that temperature and let the excess run out the overflow tube.

Use 236.14 red fluid only. This transmission is not a 722.6 and will not tolerate the older blue 236.12 spec being poured in on top of it. Shops see 722.9 units come in with harsh 2-3 shifts, slipping under light throttle, and torque converter shudder that traces straight back to fluid that is burnt, overfilled, or simply the wrong spec. A service at the right interval with the right fluid is the cheapest thing you can do for one of these boxes.

Kit ships at about 14 pounds. If your car takes more than six liters for a full pan drop and converter drain, order a second single liter to have on hand before you start.
