On the bench the job is straightforward once you have the right parts: bring the fluid to the temperature Mercedes specifies, drop the pan, swap the filter, clean the sealing surface, set the new gasket, and refill through the fill plug with the adapter and a hand pump until fluid weeps from the overflow at the correct temperature. One note from techs who have run this kit: check the O-ring on the filter neck against your old filter before you push it in, since the aftermarket ring can run slightly oversize and needs to seat clean so the filter pickup does not draw air.
