722.9 Transmission Service Kit, Blue 236.15 ATF and Filter

This is the full fluid-and-filter service for the Mercedes-Benz 722.9 seven-speed automatic on the later blue-oil specification. It ships six one-liter bottles of MB 236.15 ATF along with the transmission filter, pan gasket, six pan bolts, a drain plug with a fresh sealing washer, a manual transfer pump with a fill adapter that threads into the drain port, and a guide tube to route the fluid in. Component brands in the box are FEBI, HENGST, ELRING and LAIPZ; the kit is listed under part number 02452313.

Fluid spec is the part people get wrong. Early 722.9 units were filled with red 236.14 ATF; from roughly 2011 onward Mercedes moved select models to the blue 236.15 fluid, and the two are not interchangeable. Check the label on the pan or the build data for the car in front of you before you drain it. If the car calls for red 236.14, order that kit instead - putting blue fluid in a 236.14 unit gets you harsh shifts and a comeback.

On the bench or on the lift the job runs the same way: drop the pan, pull the old filter, clean the pan and the magnets, set the new filter and gasket, and torque the six bolts down evenly. Most of these cars have no dipstick tube, so refilling happens through the drain port - that is what the included adapter and pump are for. Fill it, then set the final level warm with the engine idling and the overflow tube in place, at the fluid temperature Mercedes specifies for the model. Overfilling a 722.9 causes foaming and pressure problems, so do not skip the hot level check.

Fits 2011-2017 Mercedes-Benz models equipped with the 722.9 transmission that call for MB 236.15 fluid. Six liters covers a standard pan-drop service; a full flush or a torque converter drain will take more fluid than this kit contains.
