850RE Transmission Filter and Metal Pan Gasket Kit 68417054AA

This is a transmission filter and metal pan gasket kit for the 850RE 8-speed automatic, the FCA-built version of the ZF 8HP75, used in the 2018-2022 Jeep Wrangler JL and 2020-2023 Jeep Gladiator. It replaces OE 68417054AA and 68417054AB. The kit includes the filter and a metal pan gasket. These transmissions have used more than one pan and gasket style, so match the OE number and the gasket style on your truck before ordering.

The 850RE comes with a long factory service interval, but trucks that tow, run big tires, or spend time off road build heat and wear material fast. A filter and fluid service is the right move when the fluid is dark, when the pan is off for a leak repair, or after a clutch or valve body repair. A partial drain alone leaves the old filter in place, so it does not do much for a unit that has already been shedding material.

On the bench, drain the fluid, drop the pan and pull the old filter straight down. Check that the filter seal came out with the filter and did not stay behind in the bore. Clean the pan and magnet, look at what is on the magnet, install the new filter, fit the new gasket and torque the pan bolts evenly. Refill with the correct ATF for the 850RE and set the level at the fill plug with the engine running and the fluid in the factory temperature window, which needs a scan tool to read.
