Complete ZF 8HP65 valve body with the solenoid pack installed, for Audi A6, A7, A8, Q5, S4 and S5 with the 0D5 eight-speed automatic.
This is a complete valve body assembly for the ZF 8HP65, the eight-speed automatic Audi and VW call the 0D5. It is the casting that lives under the transmission pan and does the actual shifting, and it comes with the shift and pressure-control solenoids already fitted, so you are not transferring tired solenoids off the old unit.
Fitment covers the longitudinal 8HP65 / 8HP65A cars: Audi A6, A7, A8, Q5, S4, S5 and S6 applications running the 0D5 gearbox. The 8HP65 is the higher-torque sibling of the 8HP55 and shares the same basic hydraulic layout, but the valve bodies are not interchangeable across the family, so match the 8HP65 casting to your car before ordering.
Symptoms that point at the valve body on these units are a hard bang into Drive or Reverse, a flare or slip on one specific upshift, shuddering torque converter lockup, delayed engagement when cold, and pressure-regulation or solenoid-circuit fault codes stored in the TCM. Once the bores in an 8HP valve body wear oval, line pressure bleeds off and no amount of fresh fluid brings it back, which is why a complete assembly is the usual repair rather than a single solenoid.
On the bench: drop the pan, drain the fluid, unplug the internal harness at the mechatronic connector, unbolt the valve body in the factory sequence, and set the new one in place with a fresh pan and filter. Refill with ZF LifeGuard 8 spec fluid and set the level at the correct fluid temperature, not by sight. Most cars want an adaptation reset afterwards so the TCM relearns clutch fill times.
