A604 41TE Transmission Shift Solenoid Block Pack with Gasket

This is the shift solenoid block pack for the Chrysler A604 (41TE) and 40TE/41AE family of four-speed front-wheel-drive automatics, the transaxle that lived under a huge slice of Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth minivans and sedans from the early 1990s through 2011. The solenoid pack bolts to the valve body and is what the transmission controller pulses to time the shifts and apply the torque converter clutch. When it gets electrically weak or the internal passages gum up, you get the classic 41TE complaints: harsh or delayed shifts, slipping between gears, no torque converter lockup, converter shudder, or a limp-mode that won't leave second gear.

It replaces a long list of OE numbers including 5140429AA, 5015646AC, 5015646AB, 4504570AB, 698-100, 4504570AB and D92420B, and comes with the pack gasket. This is the later, updated design that does away with the leak-prone stacked gasket used on the earliest units, so it is a common upgrade even on early cars that keep weeping fluid at the solenoid pack seam. It is a plug-in pack: the electrical connector and the mounting screws are the whole job.

Fitment is broad across the 41TE. It covers Dodge/Chrysler Caravan and Grand Caravan, Town & Country and Grand Voyager (1990-2011 depending on engine), Chrysler PT Cruiser (2001-2011 2.4L), Sebring and Cirrus, Concorde, LHS, 300M and Prowler with the 3.5L, Chrysler 200 (2011-2013 2.4L), and Dodge Avenger. Confirm your transaxle is a 41TE/40TE and match your engine year against the fitment list before ordering, since Chrysler ran several transaxles across these platforms.

Bench notes: the pack sits on a shelf inside the case, so drain the fluid with the passenger side jacked up to keep dirt out of the valve body, clean the mounting face thoroughly, and blow or vacuum the ports before setting the new gasket. Clean the electrical connector at the pack and the TCM with electronic cleaner while you are in there. These units are sensitive to a poor ground, so a healthy ground path from the pack to the TCM to the battery makes them shift right. Ships from the USA.
